Obituary of Ernest Alfred Tallman

Please share a memory of Ernest to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear father into the loving arms of Jesus on December 31, 2018.  Ernie passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at Veterans Care, Parkwood Hospital, London in his 96th year, which was his home for the past two and a half years.  He was a proud veteran of the Royal Canadian Air Force serving in England during WW II.

Ernie was the last surviving sibling of ten.  He was born and raised in Wilberforce, ON where he continued to vacation with his family every year, including this past summer.  He loved to take family and friends for rides on his pontoon boat.  He was a loyal 37 year employee of B.F. Goodrich in Kitchener where he lived with his wife Miriam raising their five children.  In later years, he made Dorchester his home along with his second wife, Elaine.

Loving father of Rick Tallman (Janice) of Dorchester, Bob Tallman (Sheila) of Woodstock, Jim Tallman (Lana) of New Hamburg, Jane Kropf (Doug) of Bright and Shirley Tallman of Kitchener.  Stepfather of Ross Bryant (Sunday) and Greg Bryant (Gladys) all of British Columbia.  He will be missed by 15 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by 4 brothers, Clarence, Harry, Keith and Karl and 5 sisters, Beattie, Alma, Pat, Edith and Jean.  Loved by his first wife Mirian (Schaaf) who predeceased him in 1986 and Elaine (Ross-Bryant) in 2014 as well as his special sister-in-law Madeline Honderich (2013).

Ernie had a kind heart and gentle spirit.  He had a wonderful sense of humor along with a contagious laugh and beaming smile.  He enjoyed singing hymns and old songs.  He loved animals, especially his cat "Kitty".  He was an active member of Dorchester Community Church.  His strong Christian faith and love for his Lord carried him throughout his life.

Special thanks to the staff on the 4th floor, Veterans Unit at Parkwood for the loving and tender care given to our dad over the past two and a half years.

Friends will be received at the Bieman Funeral Home, 3970 Hamilton Road, Dorchester (Thames Centre) (Friday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.)  The funeral service will be conducted at the Dorchester Community Church, 3912 Catherine Street, Dorchester on Saturday, January 5 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation 1 hour prior to service.
