Obituary of Darrel Herbert George

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Darrel Herbert George at Henley Place, London, Ontario, on Friday, October 4th, 2024, at the age of 67. Darrel was a beloved husband to Margaret Ann George (Ross) and a devoted father to Meghan Hill (Kyle), Adam George (Katie), and Kendall McCutcheon (Trevor). He is also survived by his cherished stepchildren, Jason Ashton, Donata Ashton, Ken Fisher (Tylene), and Bailey Wadman. A devoted grandfather, he leaves behind Ethan, Lucas, Aiden, Parker, Sutton, Brooks, Orion, Alyssa, Cailum, Rachel, Lilian, Natalie, and Jamie. He is also survived by his siblings, Dale George (Sherri) and Dawn McQuiggin, and their families. Darrel was preceded in death by his parents, Herb and Dorothy George (Hinge). He dedicated his life to his work and family, tirelessly giving back to the community. He created the Dorchester Fair Cereal Box Competition, supporting school breakfast programs across Dorchester and surrounding areas, including the Dorchester Food Bank. Darrel was a fixture in the community, having tended and cared for the Putnam Cemetery for the past 22 years. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, Margaret Ann, cutting grass for his many clients, and spending time with friends from the Dorchester farming community. Known for his kindness, humor, and unwavering support, Darrel was a true friend to all. He had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel welcome and valued, always ready to lend a helping hand or share a warm smile. A Celebration of Darrel's life will be held at the North Dorchester Agricultural Society Fairgrounds, "Gent Hall", 4939 Hamilton Road, Dorchester on Saturday, November 16,2024 beginning at 1:00 p.m. with words of remembrance at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the North Dorchester Agricultural Society and Diabetes Canada in his memory. Darrel's spirit will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
