Obituary of Karen Anne Barnwell

Karen Anne Barnwell, age 56, passed away suddenly in her home in Dorchester on Tuesday, November 27, 2018.

She was born on May 27, 1962 in Thunder Bay, Ontario to George and Margaret-Anne (Clarke) Robertson.

Karen is greatly loved by her high school sweetheart and husband of 34 years, Dan, and together they have two beautiful children Tyler (Mara) Barnwell and Lauren (Travis) VanBakel.  She is forever remembered  by her two brothers, David (Lori) Robertson, Dale (Shelly) Robertson; her in-laws, George and Lillian Barnwell; sister-in-law Kristin (Brad) Higgins; cousin, Paul (Natalie and Aiden) Charlebois; two aunts Janet (Don) Selman and Faye (Chuck) Charlebois; Anita Sawchuk and her daughters; four nieces and two nephews and many other family and friends.

Karen was a loyal, hard working accountant who enjoyed many years working alongside Rick Trochimchuk.  Karen's true pride and joy in her life was her two children, Tyler and Lauren, whether it was at the rink or pool, she was always their number one cheerleader.

Karen also had a passion and love for cooking, she always welcomed family and friends over for delicious home cooked meals.  She loved to be outside in the sunshine and could often be found working away in her gardens, growing fresh vegetables and herbs.

This past July, Karen was overjoyed to be a part of her daughter's wedding and celebrate Lauren and Travis's marriage with her closest family and friends by her side.

Two Celebrations of Life will be held to remember the amazing life she lived.  On Sunday, December 2, from 2-4 p.m., we ask that friends and family gather at the Vandenbosch household (3079 Catherine Street, Dorchester, ON).  A second gathering will be held at the Valhalla Inn, Wednesday, December 5, from 5-8 p.m. (1 Vahalla Road, Thunder Bay,ON).
