Obituary of Sandra Joyce Thorpe-Chalcraft

Sandra Joyce Thorpe-Chalcraft (Mills) It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Sandra Joyce Thorpe-Chalcraft, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who peacefully passed away on December 2, 2024, at the age of 89, surrounded by her loving family. Born on March 8, 1935, Sandra was a woman of immense love, strength, and warmth. She was predeceased by her first husband, Ken (1987), her daughter Ruth Anne (2005),her second husband, Bill (2011), and her brother Tom (2024) Sandra is survived by her daughter Kathleen (Rick) VanLeeuwen and her son Ray (Pam) Thorpe. She will be missed by her brothers-in-law, and sisters-in-law, many nieces, nephews and life long friends. Sandra’s love for her family was boundless, and she was incredibly proud of her grandchildren: Reggie, Bradley, Brandon, Samantha, Raymond, Paul, and John. She was also a cherished GiGi to her great-grandchildren: Ivy, Lola, Elsie, Lilly, and Ryot, who brought her so much joy and happiness. For the past nine years, Sandra had the privilege of living with her daughter, Kathleen, where she was blessed to be surrounded by family every day. The house was filled with laughter, love, and unforgettable memories, which will be cherished by all who knew her. Sandra will be deeply missed, but her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2024 at Dorchester Community Church (3912 Catherine Street, Dorchester) 10 am – 12 pm Visitation, Service to commence at 12 Noon with Pastor Jeff Strokan. Interment will take place at Dorchester Union Cemetery. Following the service, we warmly invite family and friends to join us for a light lunch and time of fellowship at the church as we share memories and honor Sandra’s life. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Society Southwest Partners (435 Windermere Rd, London, ON N5X 2T1).
