Obituary of Daniel Froese
Please share a memory of Daniel to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Daniel Froese, lovingly known as Dan or Danny to most of us, passed peacefully from this life to the eternal last Saturday, just one day shy of his 56th birthday.
Dan was born on December 1, 1968, in Chihuahua, Mexico, the second child of the late Franz and Agatha (Wiebe) Froese. On his seventh birthday in 1975, he arrived with his family in Aylmer, where life in a new country began to take shape.
Growing up in an immigrant family that faced financial challenges, Dan began working at a young age, spending summers picking tomatoes and cucumbers, and later working on tobacco farms. Despite not finishing high school, he embraced the value of hard work, first at Walker Farms and then at his dad's company – ALW Paving.
On September 30, 1989, Dan married the love of his life, Lisa Thiessen, beginning a journey of love that lasted over 35 years. For years they teamed up as truck drivers, hauling loads together across North America. Dan continued working as a truck driver with his brother Leonard after him and Lisa were blessed with 4 children. Together, they built a life rooted in perseverance, raising their children while navigating life's challenges. During Dan's toughest years, his wife remained unwavering in her faith in God, keeping the family together while holding on to hope for his spiritual transformation. Her steadfast love and faithfulness was foundational for the family during those difficult years.
From a young age, Dan battled severe headaches, a struggle that later led to years of prescription drug addiction. Dan's mother never stopped lifting her son before the Lord and requesting prayer for his salvation from the congregation. Those heartfelt prayers were gloriously answered on July 31, 2005, when Dan surrendered his life to the Lord. This day marked a turning point, and he became a man deeply changed by God's mercy.
Despite ongoing struggles with severe chronic pain that made him irritable, Dan was known for his generous spirit and a desire to bless others. Stories abound of Dan's quiet acts of kindness, giving liberally when he was able.
Dan was well-known in East Elgin as the proprietor of Dan's Taco Wagon from 2013-2020. One of his favourite things was serving food to crowds of people, at The Taco Wagon and also at private events.
In 2021, Dan and Lisa, along with their three sons, moved to Nobleford, Alberta, where they embraced life on a small acreage, returning to his roots and raising cattle like his grandfather. This brought him much joy in his last years.
In February 2024, Dan was diagnosed with a large brain tumor. After prayerful consideration, he underwent surgery, during which most but not all of the tumor was removed. This provided several months of almost complete relief from his headaches. During this time, he cherished moments with family, especially the joy of meeting and holding his first grandson, Theodore. When the tumor returned aggressively later this year, Dan faced his final days with faith and courage. When he realized that his life on earth would soon be over, he redeemed the time by sending many encouraging and admonishing messages on our family chats, speaking much about heaven and his desire to go there.
Dan leaves behind his beloved wife Lisa, their children Kayla (Jacob) Hale of Wisconsin, Tyler (Elizabeth), Brandon, and Cristopher, all of Alberta, and his precious grandson Theodore Hale. He is also survived by his siblings Leonard (Lori) Froese of Aylmer, Cristine (Karl) Rabel of Ohio, and Angelina (David) Dyck of Chihuahua, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles.
Viewing, Funeral, and Burial will take place in Aylmer Ontario.
