Obituary of Thomas Floyd Symon

Thomas Floyd Symon: Born April 3, 1939 Unexpectedly, on September 18, 2024, after complications from a scheduled surgery at LHSC, Tom Symon passed away with his wife of 20 years, Velma (Farquhar-Wilson), children and grandchildren by his side. Blessed with a life full of love, he was predeceased by his wife of 44 years, Dianne Symon, sister, Irene Carter and brother, George Symon. Tom handed down a wealth of knowledge and skills to his children, Deb & (Em Cornish), Dave & (Kristy), Shannon & (Stan Lammers) and Scott & (Tiffany). He is at the centre of many cherished memories for his grandchildren, Crystal & (Brent), Tom & (Danielle), Arwen, Dalton, Cole & (Amanda), Bronwyn, Rachael and Charlotte and great grandchildren, Olivia, Hayden and Gracie. Tom will be sorely missed by his extended Farquhar-Wilson families who embraced him as their own. Adept at so many things, he worked consistently at his perpetual motion machine, created games, fixed almost anything and mentored many mechanics through their first years, many of whom became lifelong, treasured friends. Playing guitar, playing catch, playing cards, playing croquet, playing shuffleboard. So many great memories to recall. Tom’s positive influence in so many lives will not be forgotten and he left the world a better place for his time spent here. Friends will be received at the Bieman Funeral Home, 3970 Hamilton Road, Dorchester (Tuesday 3-5 & 7-9 p.m.) where the funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday, September 25, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. Interment Dorchester Union Cemetery Following the interment service, everybody is invited to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #513, 1227 Donnybrook Drive, Dorchester for a time of fellowship, light lunch and refreshments.
