Obituary of Doris Elizabeth Summers

Peacefully at University Hospital, Doris Summers of Dorchester in her 91st year. Devoted wife of 73 years to Carl. Beloved Mother of Bonnie (Peter), Bob (Cindy), Terry (Judy), Debbie (John), Donna (Sheldon) and Brenda (Dan). Cherished Grandma to 12 grandchildren, Great Grandma to 24 great grandchildren and Great Great Grandma to 6 great great grandchildren. Predeceased by her parents Gordon and Cora, her brothers Max, Clare, ‘Zip’(Jean), Doug (Wilma) and Don (Edna), her mother in law Gladys Summers and her brothers in law Harold (Frida), Russell (Roslyn), Jim (Esther) and Lyle (Marie). Remembered fondly by her sisters in law Roslyn, Esther and Marie. Doris was a dedicated housewife and mother to her family, who had a passion for baking and enjoyed spending time with her many grandchildren. In her earlier years, she loved bowling with her friends and enjoyed coaching Dorchester Girl’s Fastball from the 1960’s through to the 1980’s. She also enjoyed watching old movies, particularly ones starring Gregory Peck. Doris was very crafty lady and had a knack for making gorgeous flower arrangements. A special thanks to Wendy at the Palliative Care ward at University Hospital for her exceptional care and compassion. Family and friends will be received at Bieman Funeral Home, (3970 Hamilton Road, Dorchester, ON N0L 1G2) on Thursday, September 5th 2024 from 2 – 4 pm and 6 – 8 pm. A funeral service at the Bieman Funeral Home, Dorchester will be held at 11 am on Friday, September 6th 2024.
