Obituary of Doug Rutherford

At London Health Sciences Centre, Victoria Hospital, London on Friday, February 2, 2024. Douglas (Doug) Rutherford of Mossley (formerly of Dorchester) in his 80th year. Beloved husband of Nancy (nee Elgie). Dear father of Kelly Gemmell (Artie) and Sheri Rutherford all of Thames Centre. Loving grandfather of Chanel Feletto (Daniel), Shae Gemmell (Raychel) and Ashley Gemmell (Josh Madgett) and great grandfather of Austin, Elizabeth, Chase and Audrey. Brother of Willie Rutherford (Marion), Allen Rutherford (Michelle) and Annie Mullis (Brian). Fondly remembered by a niece Lisa Tapp (Tim) and nephews Sean Elgie and Chad Elgie (Tara), brother-in-law Robert Elgie (Gayle), sister-in-law Ronnie Rutherford and by good friend Mike Rowse. Predeceased by brothers Sam Rutherford and Chuck Rutherford Doug was a certified electrician and worked at General Motors Diesel for 30 years. He was also Plant Chairman at General Motors. Doug was also president of the London Skill Trades Local 27 for many years. Doug lived life to the fullest and enjoyed playing and watching golf as well as watching baseball and hockey. He loved travelling and love going to Florida over the winter months. Cremation has take place and burial of cremated remains will be held at the Dorchester Union Cemetery at a later date. A Celebration of Doug's life will be announced later.
