Obituary of Alexander James Sutherland

Alex(ander) James Sutherland April 16 1951 - Feb 5 2023 Alex left us abruptly on the afternoon of Feb 5th Predeceased by his first wife of 31 years Suzanne Jean Male. Survived by his second wife of 17 years Donna Lucille Stephens. Alex, aka Papa Lix leaves behind His 3 Children Trish (Jeremy, Brittany and Liam), Sandi and Derik We cannot forget to include his awesome Bonus Dad/Papa status to Brad (Hanna, Shawn and Kelly), Brent (Cathy Carly, Brooke and Todd, Blair (Paula), Kimberly (Tom, Eric, Lucas, Michaela and Gwendolyn) Brian (Tara, Bailey and Cooper) Cyndi (Brad, Allen, William and Breanna) Charlie (Amy, Zoey, Fiona and Shea). Kudos to Alex’s Parents, Nancy Elizabeth Lawson & Thomas Sutherland for raising the most epic human/handyman to ever grace us with their presence. His siblings and their families will long remember his witty banter and pesky pestering for years to come. Sheila (Leslie), Jean (Harold), Paul (Lisa, Kelsey and Palmer), Linda (Greg, Zac and Kassandra), Neil (Linda, Lori and Ian), Dorothy (John and Lynsay) and Scott (Melissa, Henry, Norah and Bruce). We are heartbroken to lose someone so special. He was a wonderful man who will be missed by all who knew him. Alex spent many years serving his community including The Pond Mills Environment Plan and being an elected Trustee with the London Board of Education. After retiring from being Facility Manager at Country Terrace in Komoka and the St Thomas YMCA; Alex took to the Golf Courses to work on his slice. When he wasn’t on the links he’d be busy helping his family or Neighbours with home repairs or refinishing furniture. Friends and Family will be received at Dorchester Community Church, 3912 Catherine St. Dorchester ON N0L1G4 Visitation on Friday Feb 10th 2-4pm and also 6-8pm where the Celebration of Life will be held on Sat Feb 11 @ 11am with a luncheon to follow.
