Obituary of Marilyn Kingwell Dutton
Please share a memory of Marilyn to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Peacefully at University Hospital, London.
Marilyn (Kingwell) Dutton passed on February 18, 2025 in her 101st year.
Only daughter of Warner and Elizabeth (Kingwell) of Dorchester, ON
Beloved wife of Harry Dutton (1976).
Marilyn enjoyed growing up in Dorchester, making forever close friends. Marilyn attended Dorchester Public and Secondary Schools. She had a lovely contralto voice and often sang in the Dorchester United Church choir as a soloist. A graduate of the Westervelt School of Business, Marilyn went on with book keeping as her career.
In 1949, Marilyn married Harry Dutton and moved to Toronto. Harry died suddenly in 1976.
Marilyn led an active life with friends and enjoyed travelling to Europe and the States.
In the early 90's, Marilyn returned to friends and family in London. She joined Metropolitan United Church and was very active in the Homeless dinner program for several years. Eventually, Marilyn made Longworth Retirement her home enjoying the accommodations and kindness of the staff.
Marilyn was a strong woman, steady as she goes and was in good health for many years. She loved theatre, playing bridge bus trips and reading.
Marilyn was a great cook and she liked entertaining. She had a good sense of humour and that will be missed by London cousins Cathy Cave, Maxine and Patrick Eveland and family and Maxine's children Jay Moore and Suzanne Moore of Whitby and Hamilton and her western families in Rosetown, Elrose and Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and Calgary, Alberta.
The family thanks the Longworth Retirement Home for the kindness and consideration of all staff over the 10 year period. We enjoyed her 100th birthday celebration last June. Thank you Longworth. We also thank the staff at University Hospital, London or your excellent care.
