Cottage Delight!
For a few magical summers growing up, the Drapers and the Harringtons cottaged together. It was the best of times with my cousins and family. I'll never forget a canoe ride with my uncle Wayne when I was just a kid. He took me out in the canoe which was a real treat because my dad didn't do much solo canoeing. It was just me and him and maybe one other lucky passenger. He paddled with skill and was so patient with me as I paddled at all the wrong times. Eventually we made it to our destination. I remember a beautiful spot with trees and vines arching overhead with places so low even I had to duck at times. I'll never forget those summers or the patience he showed me in that moment. I'll miss you!

Wayne was the best brother-in-law one could wish for. He was kind, gentle & so very funny with his dry wit. We fondly remember his organizational skills of the Guys Canoe Trips each May… some with snow! The Couples Canoe Trips & of course The Family Canoe Trips with our kids. Always fun on the Saugeen. One of The Guy trips included a massive amount of his homemade chili which was appreciated after a long day on the water BUT day 3 he offered up the last chili remains & there were no takers. With a tinkle in his eye; a secret slosh of gasoline mixed into the leftover chili he threw the lot into the roaring campfire WHOOSH
& the laughter commenced. What had the guys been consuming for 2 days? No one needed an alarm clock as Wayne would be up early banging pots & pans outside your tent. Our kids loved their Uncle Wayne for so many reasons. He was a gift to us all.
Thanks for the Memories. Until we meet again…

Wayne was a dear neighbour in Belmont and at Woodland Park. Wayne was more than just a neighbour, he was our very good friend. He was generous to a fault. We considered him and Donna as part of our family. He will be missed by everyone that knew him.
