Obituary of Ellis Irwin

Ellis "Hooper" Irwin April 19, 1939 – August 7, 2025 We are saddened to announce the passing of Ellis Hooper Irwin, a lifelong resident of Dorchester, Ontario, on August 7, 2025, at the age of 86. Born on April 19, 1939, Ellis devoted his life to farming, a calling that brought him both pride and purpose. He was deeply connected to the land and to the Dorchester community, always lending a hand to local traditions, including contributing to the Dorchester Fair over the years. Ellis was the father of Andrew (Roya) Irwin, Victor (Liz) Irwin, and Jason (Lorie) Irwin. Grandfather to Viktoria and Wyatt Irwin, Matthew and Nathan Irwin, Evie and Taylor Mechem. Known for his larger-than-life personality, sense of humour, and the stories he loved to tell, Ellis was truly a character. Whether at the farm, in town, or at community events, he made his presence known and left a lasting impression on those around him. Friends will be received at the Bieman Funeral Home, 3970 Hamilton Road, Dorchester (Tuesday 5:00 - 8:00 p.m.) where the funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday, August 13, 2025 at 1:30 p.m. Interment Dorchester Union Cemetery.
