To the Kemp Family
I knew Irene over 50 years. We met at C.M.H.C. In 1975, 3 of my friends and I went with Irene, Chuck and the Trans Canada Hell Drivers to Florida for a week that winter. That was one trip I will never forget. In 1977 I was married. My husband Roy & I were Irene's neighbours. She was living on Saunby Street. We were across Wharncliffe Road on McDonald Ave. Life went on at work. Irene retired. Time passed and then Irene turned 90. Her birthday party was at the Hearth in Komoka. There were a number of CMHC ladies who went to the party that afternoon. It was a beautiful winter day. When we went to leave a terrible snowstorm came up. It was a scary drive home, but everyone made it safe and sound. Then one day Margaret Wright, Pat Currie and myself decided we would stop in for a visit with Irene at Horizon Place. We took her a plant. The receptionist was having trouble finding Irene. She finally sent us down the hall to the recreation room. Irene was there. She was glad to see us but told us we had come on the wrong day. Tuesdays and Thursdays were card days. Please choose a different day to come for a visit. Irene rest in peace - you lived a full life.
