Obituary of Carl Summers
Please share a memory of Carl to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Peacefully at home with family be his side on Monday, January 27, 2025.
Carl Summers of Dorchester in his 95th year.
Beloved husband of the late Doris (nee Cole) (August 30, 2024).
Dear father of Bonnie (Peter), Bob (Cindy), Terry (Judy), Debbie (John), Donna (Sheldon) and Brenda (Dan).
Cherished gramps of 12 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren.
Survived by sister Esther and by sisters-in-law Marie and Roslyn.
Predeceased by brothers Harold (the late Frida), Russell, Lyle and Jim; brothers-in-law Max, Clare, "Zip" (the late Jean), Doug (the late Wilma), Don (the late Edna); parents Kenneth and Gladys Summers and by his father and mother-in-law Gordon and Cora Cole.
Carl retired from General Motors Diesel in London as a well-respected supervisor. It might be pointed out that he was a very active member of the Dorchester Lions Senior Centre for over 30 years. In his retirement, Carl took up golf at Cobble Hills Golf Course and always played with the same "3 guys" time and time again. When a member at Cobble Hills, he was a constant figure in the Tuesday morning Senior's League.
Carl took great pride and joy taking care of his home - Beit outside in the gardens and the lawn and even inside.
Sports were a big part of both Carl's and Doris' life. Both of them followed their kids and later their grandchildren through their many sporting activities. Carl was a great supporter of the Dorchester Dolphins and was an avid fan of both Toronto Blue Jays and Toronto Maple Leafs.
The Summers family would like to give their sincere thanks to Dr. Ahmed and his staff plus all the doctors and nurses involved in Carl's care for all their care and support.
Friends will be received at the Bieman Funeral Home, 3970 Hamilton Road, Dorchester (Sunday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.) where the funeral service will be conducted Monday, February 3,2025 at 1:00 p.m.
