In his 85th year, Allen (Al) Caddey passed away on June 21, 2024, in the presence of family. Predeceased by his gentle wife of 45 years, Nita (2006). Much beloved and devoted father of Michelle (Alasdair), and caring, ever-present grandfather of Serena and Rory. Mischievous, loving brother of Tom (Doreen); of predeceased Caddey siblings Bill, Don, and Millie; and of a warm, expansive set of Braunton siblings garnered through marriage. Fun-loving uncle (and “adopted” uncle) to numerous nieces and nephews and their families. A friend to many in Thames Centre - and wherever he travelled. Al was a hardworking, optimistic, curious, resourceful, family man with charisma and kindness to spare. He was full of life and levity and loved nothing more than working with his hands while taking in the sights and sounds of nature. Music and lively conversations at his kitchen table, in his garage, and around the campfire made his eyes sparkle. He was constantly learning, listening, and laughing, and was a truly legendary storyteller. He sought to make everyone feel special and heard, and often succeeded. Pets (and animals in general) brought much joy throughout his life. Friends and family are invited to share fond memories and pay their respects at the Bieman Funeral Home, 3970 Hamilton Road in Dorchester, Ontario, at a visitation on Wednesday, June 26, from 6:00 to 8:30 pm. A private interment at the Banner Cemetery has been arranged, and a family celebration of life will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, those who wish to memorialize Al may make a contribution in his name to Animalert, P.O. Box 24042, London, ON N6H 5C4 www.animalert.ca or may plant a tree in a location of their choosing. Online condolences may be made at www.biemanfuneralhome.com
