I visited Ellis the last few years as a Personal Support Worker. He would tell me stories of growing up on the farm and taking over from his father. Sometimes he would reminisce about his wild days of his youth and playing baseball. Most of the time he would talk about his wives and children and grandchildren. I will miss him. Tracie Lawrence

I’m so terribly sorry for your loss. Hooper was a great man. He had a hearty laugh. I remember him doing custom work for my parents. I remember his involvement in the original Dorchester Santa Claus parade. I have a photo of the originals. There’s so many wonderful memories. My thought and prayers at this time.

Drew, Victor and Jason, I was very sorry to hear about the passing of Hooper and please accept my sincerest condolences. Hooper meant a great deal to me and in some regards was a second father figure to me. I will always be grateful for the way he took me in and treated me like another one of his kids, even yelling at me for something stupid I did. I will always remember his gregarious, infectious laugh when he told his stories. My life was better for knowing him. Rob Matthews
